SFIP gladly accepts payment by check from a US-based organization, money order or cashiers check.

Checks are made payable to San Francisco International Program

All program and service fees must be paid in full before the J-1 or J-2 sponsorship forms (DS 2019) are issued.

Global Partners Program Fees


Standard Program Fees:
  • 0 - 3 month training period: $1,000
  • 4 - 6 month training period: $1,200
  • 7 - 12 month training period: $1,800
  • 13 - 18 month training period: $2,000
Nonprofit Discount (available for 501(c)(3) training sites):
  • 0 - 3 month training period: $800
  • 4 - 6 month training period: $1,000
  • 7 - 12 month training period: $1,500
  • 13 - 18 month training period: $1,800

Core Program Fees


2-4 months: $500/month

This includes visa sponsorship, training site placement, orientation and on-going logistical support, cultural and educational activities, and home-stay accommodations, which usually includes up to two meals a day.

The following expenses are not included in the program fee: stipend, international and local transportation, health insurance, SEVIS fee, or personal expenses.

Additional Services & Fees
  • Expedited processing fee per applicant (within 10 days): $500
  • J-1 extension fees: $800
  • J-2 dependent fees: $750 per dependent (limited to Global Partners Program participants)
  • J-2 dependent extension: $750
  • Fee for returned or bounced checks: $35
  • SEVIS fee: $180

NOTICE! The SEVIS fee is being imposed to support the US Government Student Exchange and Visitor Information System to maintain accurate and secure information on exchange visitors to the United States. This fee is not included in SFIP's program fees.

Health Insurance


All J-1 trainees are required to have health insurance for the entire length of their training program. Participants may choose to use their own medical coverage as long as it meets the visa requiremnts.

CIPUSA offers the required US Department of State J-1 visa health insurance through HTH Worldwide Insurance.

The following CIPUSA health insurance costs are not included in the program fees:
  • Global Partner Program: $78 per month per participants
  • Core Program: $121 per month per participant
  • Evacuation package including repatriation of remains and expenses: $15 per month per participant
