SFIP has a rolling application process. There are no due dates and we accept applications year-round.
Once the training site has been confirmed and the complete application has been received and approved by SFIP, the standard processing time is up to three weeks. Applications can be expedited (in up to 10 business days) for an additional fee.

STEP 1: Prescreening form
Submit the PRE-SCREENING FORM ONLINE After you submit the completed prescreening form you will be contacted by SFIP within two business days.
STEP 2: Application
If SFIP agrees to accept your application you will receive a full package of application materials and instructions. Applicants will prepare and submit the complete application by mail to SFIP, including:
■ CIPUSA Application Form
■ 2 professional references, preferably from past employers
■ 4 passport photos
■ American-style resume
■ Copies of previous visas to the U.S.
■ Copies of degrees/certificates
■ Final training plan
■ Copy of the agreement with SFIP from host training site
■ Signed letter of agreement with SFIP
NOTE: Applicants must submit payment along with the application material.
STEP 3: Telephone interview
SFIP/CIPUSA will contact you to schedule a telephone interview. If the phone interview is satisfactory, SFIP and it's affiliate CIPUSA will generate a DS2019 form and a prepare an acceptance letter and package which will be sent to your home country address.
Once the phone interview has been conducted and the complete application is received (including all of the necessary documentation) the standard process takes up to 3 weeks. SFIP also offers an expedited visa processing service that guarantees its completion within 10-day for an additional fee.
STEP 4: Visa interview with U.S. embassy/consulate
Once you receive the acceptance letter and package, you should make an appointment with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in your home country. Usually a decision to issue or decline a visa is made within 1-2 weeks, and you can leave for the U.S. upon receipt of your approved visa.
STEP 5: Arrival
You have 30 days before and after the initial date on the DS2019 form for arrival in the US. The DS2019 form is needed in order to enter the country and will be signed by immigration services at the port of entry. (Final departure must be within 30 days of the final date on the DS2019 form.)
NOTE: Immediately upon arrival, you must notify SFIP to schedule an orientation date and be updated in the SEVIS system.
